Dear All

Many thanks to those of you that attended the Sound of Mull working group meeting on the 27th May – we had some really very useful and productive discussion.

Minutes

Please find attached a copy of the final minutes and responses from the workshop activities on plan format and content. These will shortly be posted on the website. If there are still any members of the working group who were unable to attend the meeting and would like to contribute comments on the workshop questions posed or maps please let me know and I can arrange to get information to you.

Next meeting

Further to the date provisionally agreed at the working group meeting, I have shifted this back slightly to the 10th Sept at 7pm in the conference room at the Isle of Mull Hotel, Craignure, as due to some periods of annual leave during the next couple months this will give me a bit more time to present more substantial progress and the socio-economic study will also be complete for presentation.

Draft Reports – Sectoral interactions, Development Opportunities and Management Agreements

If anyone has any comments on these draft reports produced as part of the project could they please forward these to me as soon as possible so I can make the required changes once I am back from annual leave.

Maps

If anyone has any other comments, additions or changes to add to the maps of activities and interests in the Sound of Mull presented at the meeting please let me know. I am planning to get PDF versions of these up on the project’s website by the end of the week so you can have another look. Also hard copies have been sent to the community council representatives (Adrian Fitness – Mull Community Council, Davie Ferguson West Ardnamurchan Community Council and Mark Lawrence Morvern Community Council).

Landscape Seascape Study – Aquaculture and Coastal Infrastructure

The final report is now complete. I will be trying to get this on to the website this week but it is a rather large document so we are going to have to split it up. If you would like a copy on CD please let me know and I can arrange to get a copy to you. For those of you who had a draft copy on CD/hard copy could you please send this back to avoid the problem of people using the wrong version.

Sectoral Subgroups

When I return from leave, I will be looking into trying to set up separate workshops for the various interests in the Sound (Aquaculture, Fishing, Recreation & Tourism, Shipping & Transport, Natural Heritage, Cultural Heritage)  to discuss with each sector/interest in more detail what you would like to see from the plan itself and some options that it could include/deliver to assist sustainable development. The Clyde project is in the process of doing a similar exercise at the moment and has found it to be very beneficial. However they have acknowledge that it would have been far more beneficial to do this earlier on given they are planning to launch their draft plan this Sept. So I am trying to learn from their mistakes!

I’ll be in touch with more information when I get back.

Change of name & Annual Leave

As some of you are aware I am getting married this weekend and will be on annual leave from 20th June until the 9th July. If you have anything urgent during this period please contact Mark Steward (01631 567972, mark.steward@argyll-bute.gov.uk). Also I will be changing my name and  will be returning to work as Sarah Cunningham – I will let you know my change of e-mail when I return.

If you have any queries on the above please get in touch

Best wishes

Sarah
